GATE 2026: IIT Guwahati Opens Registration, Two-Paper Combos Out

  • GATE 2026 registration opens August 25, closes September 25, 2025.
  • Exams scheduled for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026.
  • Candidates must choose from approved two-paper combinations for GATE 2026.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced the two-paper combinations for GATE 2026. This allows candidates to choose their test papers before registration.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 will take place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. It will help them with admissions to postgraduate engineering programs.

Registration starts on August 25, 2025, and ends on September 25, 2025, at gate2026.iitg.ac.in Website in which Candidates need to provide a valid email ID, mobile number, ID proof, and upload necessary documents during the online application process.

Applicants need to complete the GATE 2026 application form, pay the fee, and select their primary and secondary test papers from the approved combinations. These include pairings such as Aerospace Engineering (AE) with Civil Engineering (CE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or Engineering Sciences (XE), and Computer Science (CS) with Data Science (DA), Electronics (EC), or Mathematics (MA), among others, all conducted in English.

The second paper must match the listed combinations, and unlisted pairings are not allowed. IIT Guwahati may add more combinations later based on infrastructure and scheduling, with updates available on the official website. The examination center for the second paper may be different from the first one and also the paper may different, but it will stay within the same city. If certain combinations are discontinued, the fees for the second paper will be refunded.
