The number of business schools in the country today is much higher than it was a decade ago. In the year 2000, there were exactly 600 colleges and by the end of 2009 that number increased to 1,400. Today, the country has over 4000 B-schools satisfying the demand for business education, producing over 2 lakhs management graduates each year. With close to 4000 B-schools, India is producing more management graduates than it can place. With so many students graduating every academic year the market is clogged with MBA graduates and placing each one becomes a challenge – this has increased unemployment among college graduates. To solve this problem, IIKM was established in the year 2005. "We want to make business education available to everyone with a dream. We stand for students who cannot get into IIM’s. It is a challenge for us to work with students from various backgrounds and place them at top notch companies," says Rakhee Sabu, CEO, IIKM Business School.
IIKM today, has a 100 percent placement record since its inception, while boasting of its many top recruiters. After close to a decade since its inception, the college has its alumni in some of the big names in the corporate world like HCL, TCS, Helios & Matheson, Club Mahindra, Reliance, ITC, Standard Chartered, Hyper City, Capgemini, CavinKare , Jet airways, Make My Trip, Indigo Airlines, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and several other prestigious companies. Offering some of the most practical and relevant programs, such as MBA in Airline and Airport management, Entrepreneurship, Consulting Management, Integrated & Executive MBA, with the help of industries, the institution has set a definition of its own in terms of business education and student placements. "We are relatively a newer school when compared to a number of big brand names in the business education, but we have carved a niche for ourselves, in this field in our own special way, with our unique pedagogy. When people think about good education followed by good placement at affordable fees, they will think about IIKM," says Sabu.

The institution gives credits to its faculty members and their curriculum for their 100 percent placement record. Each faculty member at IIKM, are experts with over 15 years of experience in the industrial world. "We also have strong tie ups with various industry experts who help us in designing our curriculum as per the need of the hour," says Sabu. Adding industrial problems to its syllabus, the college offers industry oriented courses spread across various streams of business education. This adds the practical knowledge of what is to be managed and solved in the industry, making placement of students more effective. Emphasizing on new strategies and managerial skills, their unique approach prepares students to design a portfolio which is both strong and functional for the industry. While placing its students effectively, the institution also stands for a no
compromise policy when it comes to quality in delivering business education on a global scale. Having developed an alliance with American National College, The Consultancy development centre of Government of India, Microsoft Dynamics and many others, the institution provides various courses which meet its students best.

Gaining Crucial Experience while Studying

Most employers look for evidence in a student’s resume to see if they are job ready. Undertaking internships help in showcasing skills that recruiters look for in graduates. To show their students are job ready, the college prepares its students through its internship programs. Following a four term internship process, one for each semester, students pursuing MBA at IIKM get internship opportunities once in every semester. Here, students are made to work in an industry of their choice and introduce industrial problems inside the campus for collaborative work to come up with a solution to solve it. Programs such as this, help students see the industrial world while pursuing their respective course of study. Sending students to work at the industries also gives recruiters first-hand information about the quality of students that they are working with. This later becomes a reference to recruiters and helps them in evaluating each student individually after their respective internships are complete. The college today, gives all these programs top priority, to evaluate students in the most accurate way and to place them effectively before they complete their course. The continuous individual mentoring of students helps them shape up to become future managers. With a vision to eradicate unemployment, IIKM Business School solely focuses on training students as per the need of the hour to prepare them to get placed with effectiveness and efficiency.
