Synopsis: Drake University launches a Singapore-based Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership program, expanding its global academic footprint and providing education professionals across Asia with access to a U.S. doctoral degree.

Drake University is set to expand its international academic presence with the launch of a Singapore-based Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership program, offering education professionals across Asia the opportunity to earn a U.S. doctoral degree while studying in Singapore. The initiative is being introduced through a partnership with Nanyang Science and Technology College (NSTC), marking a significant step in the university’s global education strategy.

The program is scheduled to begin in October 2026 and will be delivered from NSTC’s campus in central Singapore. Designed to cater to working professionals and aspiring educational leaders, the doctorate will combine online coursework with in-person learning sessions, providing a flexible hybrid model that accommodates diverse professional commitments.

Participants will be able to choose between two study formats. A 21-month accelerated track is intended for students residing in Singapore full-time, while a 36-month option is tailored for professionals across Asia who wish to balance doctoral studies with ongoing careers. The curriculum focuses on leadership theory, ethics, educational policy, research methodologies, organizational transformation, and program evaluation, preparing graduates to address complex challenges in educational and organizational settings.

University officials said the program aims to equip leaders with globally relevant skills and perspectives while strengthening access to high-quality American higher education in the Asia-Pacific region. The initiative follows Drake University’s broader efforts to expand internationally through partnerships and transnational education programs.

The program has received approval from Singapore’s SkillsFuture Singapore quality assurance framework as well as accreditation support through the Higher Learning Commission in the United States. These approvals are expected to enhance the program’s credibility and appeal among prospective students seeking internationally recognized qualifications.

Drake University believes the Singapore-based offering will create new opportunities for educators, administrators, and professionals seeking advanced leadership expertise while contributing to the growing demand for internationally focused doctoral education in Asia. The launch also reflects the increasing trend of universities extending their academic reach through cross-border educational partnerships and flexible learning models.
