Israel Opens MFA Scholarships for Global Students

Synopsis:  Israel opens applications for its 2026–27 MFA Scholarship Programme, offering international students financial support for academic studies and Hebrew language courses at recognised Israeli institutions.

The Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has announced applications for its 2026–27 scholarship programme for international students, offering opportunities to pursue higher education and Hebrew language studies at recognised academic institutions in Israel. The initiative aims to strengthen international academic exchange, research collaboration, and cultural engagement through globally accessible education programmes.

According to the official announcement shared by the Israeli Embassy in India, students holding a BA, BSc, or higher academic qualification are eligible to apply for scholarships covering master’s, doctoral, post-doctoral, overseas, and specialised academic programmes. The scholarships are available only for courses approved by the Israeli Council for Higher Education.

The programme includes two major categories. The first is an eight-month academic scholarship running from October to June, while the second is a three-week Hebrew language summer course scholarship. Officials state that the initiative is designed to support academically strong international students seeking advanced education and research opportunities in Israel.

Under the academic scholarship scheme, selected candidates will receive coverage of 50 per cent of tuition fees up to a maximum of USD 6,000, along with a monthly allowance and basic health insurance for one academic year. The Hebrew language scholarship includes full tuition fees, dormitory accommodation, a three-week allowance, and health insurance support. Authorities also confirm that special Ulpan scholarships for Summer 2026 will be awarded as an exception this year.

Applicants must be below 35 years of age at the beginning of the academic year and demonstrate a strong academic record. Candidates are also required to secure admission to a recognised Israeli academic institution before final scholarship approval is granted. In addition, applicants must meet the English or Hebrew language proficiency requirements prescribed by their chosen institutions.

The Israeli government notes that scholarship recipients must obtain an A2 student visa, which does not permit employment during the study period. Accommodation, transportation, and travel expenses to and from Israel will remain the responsibility of the applicant.

Applications are required to be submitted in English in three copies through Israeli embassies or consulates. The final submission deadline is scheduled for early June 2026, while scholarship decisions are expected to be announced around July 2026. Indian students seeking additional information are advised to contact the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi for detailed application procedures and eligibility guidelines.
