Korea Times, KAFSA Ink MOU to Expand Global Edu Hub

The Korea Times, the oldest English-language daily in the nation, has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Korean Association of Foreign Student Administrators (KAFSA) to enhance the international competitiveness of Korean universities.
As per the agreement, both organizations intend to enhance cooperative programs focused on boosting the global outreach of universities via various joint initiatives, simultaneously encouraging mutual growth.
The organization unites leaders and personnel engaged in international education within Korea’s higher education entities, promoting information sharing and collaboration. It is currently seen as an important entity representing Korean universities in international academic interactions.
It collaborates with international organizations such as NAFSA in the U.S., EAIE in Europe, JAFSA in Japan, and CAFSA in China, acting as Korea’s representative in disseminating information on Korean higher education and encouraging global exchanges.

“The inaugural announcement of the K-universities Global Excellence Rankings 2026 reflects our commitment to promoting Korean universities on the global stage and attracting a more diverse pool of international students,” Korea Times President-Publisher Oh Young-jin said.
“As international affairs offices in each university play a central role in shaping globalization strategies, we believe our partnership with KAFSA will create strong synergy and meaningful outcomes.”
The two parties will seek opportunities to jointly develop content and initiatives regarding internationalization, and will investigate possible collaboration on shared events and projects designed to enhance global networks and assist universities in their international outreach. Highlighting the difficulties confronting Korean higher education and society, KAFSA Chair Yang Jae-wan emphasized the increasing significance of globalizing universities.
