Candidates may additionally provide a statement explaining the broader impact of their proposed research and its alignment with MIT's values and research environment.

The fellowship provides more than financial assistance, with fellows participating in professional development, mentorship and leadership activities during their appointment. This structure is intended to support researchers as they develop their scientific expertise and build collaborations across different areas of research.

The MIT School of Science fellowship covers a broad range of scientific disciplines, providing opportunities for researchers to work within the school's academic and research ecosystem. Applicants are encouraged to contact prospective faculty mentors early and discuss their proposed research before submitting their applications.
