Study Abroad: Guide for Indian Students Choosing Russia

- Russia opens a New Delhi agency to guide Indian students through admissions.
- Support includes program selection, visas, paperwork, and cultural preparation.
- Russia plans to send 10,000 Indian students in 2026 and promote diverse fields.
A division of the Russian Educational Agency has been established in New Delhi to assist Indian students who are choosing Russia for their education. The agency is a collaborative initiative created by the Synergy Corporation and Innopraktika.India.
It seeks to bolster the enduring amicable ties between Russia and India, enhance cultural, scientific, and social connections between the nations, and support Indian youth in receiving quality education in Russia.
The Agency will act as a support hub for applicants, featuring specialists who will aid in choosing study programs and universities, guide students through the admission processes, and assist with visa applications and other essential paperwork. This will greatly streamline the process for Indian students eager to pursue Russian education and looking to shape their futures through international academic experiences.
“We aim to help students pick relevant courses and the academic rigour needed as a student in Russia. Several students are not aware of how the universities in Russia function, which leads to confusion later. The Agency will help them get genuine information,” said Vadim Lobov, president, Synergy Corporation.

Numerous Indian graduates from Russian universities have turned into genuine representatives of camaraderie between our countries and cultures. “Russian universities are the direct heirs of the Soviet higher education system, which gained recognition in many countries, including India,” added Lobov, indicating that the Agency will soon establish offices in Mumbai and Chennai. Arrangements have been made to send more than 10,000 students from India to Russian universities in 2026.
Another area of the Agency's efforts will be to promote the Russian culture and language. Thematic classes will enable Indian students to gain a deeper insight into the country where they aspire to study. "It is important for us not just to provide foreign applicants with information about Russian universities. They can find all that online if they wish; our task is to help them prepare for admission. Therefore, we select preparatory courses, assist with paperwork, and ease cultural adaptation," said Natalia Popova, first deputy general director, Innopraktika.
As most Indians go to Russia for Medical studies, the Russian government seeks to boost interest in Engineering, Agriculture, Management, and language-related programs.
