Scholarships Open Doors For Students Across Education Levels

Several scholarships for school education, higher studies, professional courses and agriculture related programmes are available to students for 2026-27. These are all aimed at minimizing financial constraints through support for economically weaker students, those with disabilities and those studying specialised academic programmes. The following scholarships provide financial support or complete examination preparatory financial assistance; the application deadlines and eligibility criteria for different programmes are different.

Sitaram Jindal Foundation Scholarship Scheme 2026

It is meant to enable the children of economically disadvantaged families to keep on studying without having to bear the burden of academic expenses.

The age of applicants must be less than 30 years and should be eligible for the prescribed family income criterion. For salaried family members, the income of the family should not be more than ₹4 lakh per year and for other family members it should be ₹2.5 lakh per year. Final year students are not eligible.

Selected students receive financial assistance towards tuition fees, with additional support for study materials and accommodation expenses for eligible hostellers. “Scholarships should not merely serve as admission incentives; they must be strategic investments in talent, educational equity, and institutional reputation. While Indian universities predominantly offer scholarships based on academic scores and entrance examinations, many leading American universities adopt a more holistic approach, recognizing financial need, leadership, innovation, research potential, and exceptional achievements.

Indian universities must transition from admission-driven fee discounts to talent-driven, need-sensitive scholarship models. This requires transparent selection criteria, meaningful financial assistance, and dedicated scholarships for academically outstanding yet economically disadvantaged students. Practical reforms should include establishing alumni and industry-funded scholarship endowments, introducing prestigious university-branded scholarships, providing mentorship, and evaluating scholarship outcomes through academic performance, research achievements, retention, and career success. Importantly, scholarship continuation should reward sustained commitment without penalizing students facing genuine financial or personal hardships.

Such initiatives would attract exceptional students, strengthen academic outcomes, foster alumni loyalty, and significantly enhance a university's national and international reputation. Scholarships must be recognized not as lost institutional revenue, but as investments that generate intellectual capital, societal impact, and lasting institutional prestige. Ultimately, the true success of a university is not measured by how many scholarships it distributes, but by how many deserving lives it transforms,” says Govinder, Professor & Dean, Lovely Professional University.

Indic AI Scholarship Program 2026-27

Indic AI Scholarship Program 2026-27 by the Indic AI Foundation for Social Good has started a new initiative to empower students with disabilities by offering 100% scholarships to prepare for competitive entrance exams.

Through this program, eligible students can access coaching, structured learning resources, study materials, mock tests and academic guidance without paying the course fees.

The eligibility requirements differ according to the examination. Class 12 students planning to pursue undergraduate studies through CUET can apply for the CUET preparation scholarship. JEE preparation support available for class 11th/12th students who are interested in doing engineering or technical programs. Candidates to prepare for CAT can be from under-graduate students especially, third year or final year students who are considering going for MBA. Class 11 and 12 students interested in pursuing undergraduate law programmes can apply for CLAT preparation.

Applicants across all four programmes must be students with disabilities and hold a valid Unique Disability ID (UDID) card. “Scholarships play an important role in making higher education impartial and complete. Scholarships do more than ease financial burdens. Cost is one of the biggest reasons why students drop out particularly in professional programs such as MCA. In my years of teaching MCA students, I have noticed that bright, meticulous students want to drop out over fees, and scholarships are what keep them going. When students receive financial support, they can concentrate on learning, building industry skills and taking on projects and internships. That is how they become more successful and thus they become an investment in the country’s human capital.

The process of scholarship programs must be made simpler and easier by institutions, industry and government to apply for and receive. Talent is everywhere; opportunity is not. Scholarships are one of the most effective ways to close that gap,” says Dr. Deepti Sharma, Professor, Department of Information Technology, Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Rohini, Delhi.

”Scholarships are not merely financial assistance; they are instruments of social transformation, equal opportunity and nation-building. In higher education, they play a critical role in ensuring that access to quality education is determined by a student's ability, aspiration and potential rather than their economic circumstances. They enable talented students from disadvantaged and marginalized backgrounds to pursue higher learning, thereby promoting inclusivity, diversity and social mobility.

Beyond financial support, scholarships empower students to participate in research, internships, academic exchanges and other professional development opportunities that enrich their educational experience. They also encourage academic excellence, nurture future leadership and strengthen the intellectual capacity of the nation. In professional disciplines such as law, scholarships have an added significance: they help create a more diverse and representative legal fraternity, which is essential for a just and inclusive society.

Universities must therefore view scholarships as a long-term investment in human capital and institutional excellence. A truly equitable higher education system is one in which financial limitations never become barriers to knowledge, opportunity and the realization of individual potential,” says Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, Vice- Chancellor, NUSRL, Ranchi

“Scholarships are a vital instrument for promoting educational equity and nurturing human resource potential, particularly in geographically remote and mountainous regions such as Jammu and Kashmir and the North-Eastern states of India. Students from districts such as Kupwara, Bandipora, Gurez, Kishtwar, Doda, and other remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the hill and border communities of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Sikkim, often encounter distinctive challenges, including geographical isolation, difficult terrain, limited access to higher educational institutions, inadequate educational infrastructure, and financial constraints.

Scholarships can bridge these disparities by enabling talented students to access quality higher education, professional courses, scientific research, and advanced skill development. They are particularly important in encouraging students from remote communities to pursue careers in science, technology, agriculture, veterinary sciences, healthcare, and other emerging fields. Equally important, scholarships can help retain and develop local talent, empowering educated youth to contribute to regional development, address location-specific challenges, and strengthen local institutions. Thus, scholarships should be viewed not merely as financial support but as a strategic investment in inclusive growth, regional equity, and nation-building,” says Prof.K.N.Qaisar, Director Education, SKUAST-Kashmir.
