Design Entrance Exam 2027 Registration Dates and How to Apply

UCEED 2027 registration is expected to begin on October 1, 2026, with IIT Bombay scheduled to conduct the design entrance exam on January 17, 2027, for undergraduate design admissions.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is expected to begin the registration process for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2027 from October 1, 2026. The institute is scheduled to conduct the entrance examination on January 17, 2027. The detailed information brochure, including the complete application schedule, syllabus and examination guidelines, is expected to be released along with the registration process.

UCEED is conducted for admission to Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes at participating institutes. For the 2027 admission cycle, the participating IITs include IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Roorkee. IIITDM Jabalpur also offers a BDes programme through UCEED.

Candidates appearing for UCEED 2027 must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent qualifying examination in all subjects. Students from Science, Commerce and Humanities streams are eligible to appear for the examination.

For the 2027 examination, candidates belonging to the OPEN, EWS and OBC-NCL categories must have been born on or after October 1, 2001. For candidates belonging to the SC, ST or PwD categories, the date of birth must be on or after October 1, 1996.

Candidates are allowed a maximum of two attempts, and the attempts must be made in consecutive years. A UCEED score is valid only for admission during the corresponding academic year.

The UCEED 2027 application process is yet to commence. Once the registration window opens, candidates can apply through the official UCEED portal. Applicants are required to first register using their email address and mobile number and then use the login credentials received on their registered email ID to access the application form.

Candidates need to enter their personal and academic information, select an examination centre, upload the required documents in the prescribed format and pay the applicable registration fee. After submitting the form, applicants should download and retain the confirmation page for future reference.

Candidates are advised to keep documents such as a recent passport-size photograph, signature and qualifying examination certificate ready. Applicants claiming reservation or other applicable benefits must also provide the relevant EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST or PwD certificates as required.
