IIT Hyderabad Launches Global Certificate in PSS Design

• IIT Hyderabad launches an international certificate in integrated product–service design.

The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) has introduced a new International Certificate Programme in Integrated Product–Service System (IPSS) Design, created by its Department of Design (DoD) in partnership with POLI.design, Milan. The Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI) provides support for the programme in India.

The IPSS Design Certificate is a 54-hour online training course set to start on 15 January 2026. It includes 30 hours of live online modules and 24 hours of practical workshop sessions. The sessions will be collaboratively held by faculty from POLI.design and the Department of Design at IIT Hyderabad.

The program features a mix of professionals from Italy and India, providing insight into international design methods and teamwork on projects. The framework is designed to assist participants in acquiring skills in product-service system thinking, sustainable design techniques, strategic innovation, and the capability to tackle actual business and design issues.

As per an official announcement, the initiative has been created within IIT Hyderabad’s wider strategy to increase global design education and improve innovation connected to the industry. The collaboration has been formed with assistance from IICCI’s Project Minerva – The Italian Education and Training Hub.

IIT Hyderabad Director Prof BS Murty stated that the partnership with POLI.design and IICCI would enhance the exchange of knowledge between India and Italy. He mentioned that the initiative aims to help develop skilled human resources that are in line with India’s expanding product and service design sector.
