IIT Madras Invites JEE Aspirants to Campus Demo Days Ahead

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is hosting series of Demo Day events for parents and JEE aspirants, providing a direct insight into campus life, student experiences, and the academic environment. These will take place in person in various cities and online for those unable to participate in person.
The institute announces that in-person Demo Day events will be held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad. Besides this, an online session is scheduled for 3 June, during which the IIT Madras Director Prof V Kamakoti, along with faculty and alumni, will address questions related to both academic and non-academic life at the institute.
The initiative is designed to assist potential students and their families in making knowledgeable choices prior to the enrollment process. Members will explore course flexibility, campus life, and student support systems.
IIT Madras has made alterations to the curriculum to provide greater flexibility. Students have the option to choose electives from various departments, take on a minor, or transition to Inter-Disciplinary Dual Degrees (IDDD). Workshops for freshmen are back in the academic schedule, providing them with two more weeks of vacation.

A mandatory recreation class has been implemented for the first two semesters to promote an active way of life.
As part of promoting inclusive education, the institute has introduced new admission categories like Fine Arts and Culture Excellence (FACE) and Sports Excellence Admission (SEA), allocating two extra seats in each BTech and BS program, including one for female candidates.
IIT Madras is providing scholarships to students as well. Alumni and CSR partners are offering scholarships to BTech students whose family income ranges from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. SC/ST students are also free from tuition fees regardless of income.
IIT Madras is introducing the 'First Principles Teachers Award' to recognize exceptional pre-university teachers who have significantly influenced their students through teaching from fundamental concepts.
These initiatives showcase IIT Madras's goal of providing high-quality education that is both accessible and affordable for students from diverse backgrounds.
