Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi provides a financial support system, featuring scholarships, tuition waivers, and awards funded by donors to guarantee that no deserving student is prevented from receiving quality education because of a lack of financial constraints.
The financial aid system at IIT Delhi is designed for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The institution offers assistance via Merit-cum-Means scholarships, fee exemptions, fellowships, and more than 120 donor-funded scholarships, with amounts varying from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh each year.
These scholarships aim to help students according to their family income, achievements, category, or particular academic fields.
Merit-cum-Means (MCM): This scholarship is available to undergraduate students enrolled in BTech, MA, MSc, and MPP programs whose annual family income does not exceed Rs 8 lakh. Around 25% of eligible students receive financial support through this scheme, which includes Rs 4,000 per month and a full tuition fee waiver. To continue receiving the scholarship, students must maintain a minimum SGPA/CGPA of 6.0 and upload valid income proof every academic year.
Institute Free Studentship: For students who meet the MCM eligibility but are not selected due to the 25% cap, IIT Delhi offers the Institute Free Studentship. Under this scheme, tuition fee waivers are granted to an additional 10% of students purely based on financial need, ensuring wider access to financial support.

Additionally, students from these categories with an annual income below Rs 8 lakh are entitled to a hostel seat rent waiver, free basic messing, and a monthly pocket allowance of Rs 1,000.
Donor-Funded Scholarships: IIT Delhi offers more than 120 donor-funded scholarships supported by alumni, corporations, and charitable foundations. These scholarships are awarded based on a combination of factors such as annual family income, department or field of study, JEE Advanced rank, gender, and academic performance (SGPA/CGPA) during the course of study.
