NIC Recruitment 2026 Opens for 376 Scientific Assistant Posts

NIC announces 376 Scientific/Technical Assistant-A vacancies across Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, and Data Science and AI. Applications open September 1 and close September 30, 2026.

There has been a notification from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) regarding recruitment for 376 Scientific/Technical Assistant-A vacancies. The recruitment drive is done via an online application process and will be open for registration from September 1, 2026. The deadline for submitting applications would be till September 30, 2026.

These vacancies are spread out in three primary areas including Computer Sciences & Information Technology, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. The greatest number of posts comes under Computer Sciences & Information Technology with 300 positions whereas the number of posts under Data Science & Artificial Intelligence and Electronics & Communication Engineering is 50 and 26, respectively.

Scientific / Technical Assistant -A falls into the category of Group-B, Scientific and Technical, and is considered a non-gazetted post. The candidates selected for this post will be offered employment at Pay Level 6 of the Seventh Central Pay Commission, whose salary scale will be between ₹35,400 and ₹1, 12,400.

One important aspect of the recruitment process is that the recruitment is done based on the GATE score which is valid and not on any other written test. The GATE scores valid for 2024, 2025 or 2026 in the concerned paper are accepted by NIC. Once the application is reviewed, candidates are shortlisted on the merit list in disciplines and categories.

The eligibility criteria depend on the subject area. The applicants must have the qualifying degree or postgraduate degree in the concerned subject along with meeting the age criteria. For the unreserved category of the applicants, the maximum age criterion is 30 years, whereas for the eligible reserved categories, there are some relaxations as per government standards.

Candidates will be able to apply for these positions from the recruitment portal of NIC, where they have to register themselves and enter all the academic and GATE information. They will also need to upload the required documents. Applicants must ensure that all the information is correct before submitting the form.
