  • High CAT scores (90-99) key for IIM admission shortlisting.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025 registration process, organized by IIM Kozhikode, will conclude by today. Candidates can register for CAT at iimcat.ac.in. Registration opened on August 1 and was originally set to close on September 13, but was subsequently extended by a week.

Professor P N Ram Kumar, the CAT 2025 Convener, requested that candidates only use the official cat website, and report any suspicious actions to cat2025_helpdesk@iimk.ac.in.

CAT 2025 will take place on November 30, 2025, in approximately 170 cities in three sessions, for a total duration of 120 minutes. While registering for CAT, candidates will select their top five test city choices, and will be assigned to one based on test availability, or to a nearby city. Candidate fees are Rs 1,300 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates, and Rs 2,600 for all other candidates.

Admit cards will be distributed starting November 5, 2025. The exam will assess Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. Generally, you need to score in the 90-99 percentile range for IIM admission shortlisting.

Each IIM has its own criteria for shortlisting candidates based on CAT 2025, as well as several other attributes, such as undergraduate record, work experience, and diversity. Older IIMs, such as Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta, tend to weight a candidate’s CAT score fairly heavily, while the newer IIMs usually factor in Class 10, 12 and graduation scores, in addition to attention to work experience in a more balanced evaluation.
