HUDCO, IIM Udaipur Sign MoU for Urban Infrastructure Research

HUDCO and IIM Udaipur sign an MoU to advance urban infrastructure research, training and capacity building, with a focus on professional skills, institutional capabilities and sustainable urban development.

The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIM Udaipur) to promote research, training and capacity building in urban infrastructure development. The partnership seeks to strengthen professional skills, institutional capabilities and knowledge in support of sustainable urban growth.

The agreement brings together HUDCO’s experience in housing and urban infrastructure with IIM Udaipur’s expertise in management education, research and executive learning. The institutions will collaborate on initiatives aimed at developing relevant knowledge and improving professional capabilities in the urban development sector.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman and Managing Director, HUDCO, and Ashok Banerjee, Director, IIM Udaipur. Sudhir Bhatnagar, Executive Director (Projects), RC JRO, HUDCO, and Prof. N. Vishwanathan, Chairperson, Executive Education, IIM Udaipur, formally signed the agreement on behalf of the two institutions.

Under the partnership, the two organisations will focus on urban infrastructure research and knowledge development, professional training, capacity-building programmes, knowledge and skill enhancement, and the exchange of institutional expertise. The collaboration also aims to strengthen capabilities required for sustainable approaches to urban development.

The partnership comes as urban infrastructure requirements continue to evolve with the expansion of Indian cities. Research, professional development and institutional capacity building can support stakeholders involved in planning, financing and implementing urban infrastructure projects.

HUDCO already operates the Human Settlement Management Institute (HSMI), its research and training wing focused on capacity building, knowledge creation and sustainable human settlement development. HSMI works across areas including professional development, policy research, advisory services and knowledge networking in the housing and urban development sectors.

The latest MoU adds IIM Udaipur’s management and executive education capabilities to HUDCO’s institutional experience in housing and urban infrastructure. Through joint research, training and knowledge-sharing initiatives, the two organisations will work toward strengthening expertise and professional capabilities relevant to urban development.
