IIM Nagpur made a significant advancement in energy education by launching India's first Executive MBA in energy management, specifically tailored for working professionals in the power, renewable, and related industries.

The initiative, created in partnership with the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), attracted 168 candidates nationwide, of which 43 were chosen for the first batch, representing 16 states.

"In today's era, energy is real power. India's development journey will be driven by skilled energy managers," said IIM Nagpur Director Bhimaraya Metri while inaugurating the programme.

Referring to the cohort as a benchmark batch, he noted that prior to this, no business school in India had provided such a specialised MBA. "India is adding nearly a trillion dollars to its economy every year. As we move towards becoming a $35–40 trillion economy by 2047, clean, reliable, and abundant energy — and therefore perpetual learning — will be essential," he added.
