The University of Mumbai has announced the start of its undergraduate (UG) admission process for the 2026–27 academic sessions, with applications set to begin on May 6. This marks the start of admissions for multiple affiliated colleges which offer arts and science and commerce and various other programs under the National Education Policy (NEP) framework.

The complete admission procedure will take place through the university's official website. Students must complete a pre-admission registration process which they need to finish before they can apply to their selected colleges. The registration portal will become active on May 6 which allows candidates to enter their personal information and academic details while they upload necessary documents and submit their applications before the deadline.

The admission process requires multiple stages which provide both transparency and efficient execution of the process. After completing the pre-enrolment registration, candidates must also apply separately to colleges affiliated with the university. The period for students to complete their registration and application submission will end on May 21 which provides students with a specific time frame to finish all required tasks.

The release of merit lists serves as an important milestone for the admission process. The university will issue its initial merit list on May 26 which will decide the first round of seat distribution. The following rounds will be conducted according to available seats which will provide eligible candidates with multiple chances to secure admission.

The schedule includes provision for students from multiple educational boards who are currently waiting to receive their examination results which protects their admission rights. The university will conduct minority admissions and in-house admissions during the same application period.
