The National Testing Agency has started the registration process for the UGC NET June 2026 examination, which marks the initial phase of the examination cycle that candidates need to complete to attain Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professorship and PhD admissions in India.

The application process started on April 29, 2026, and will remain open until May 20, 2026. The official website provides the only method for candidates to apply, because the agency does not accept any offline applications.

The agency has released registration information, together with a complete schedule that shows important dates including the correction window and the admit card release and the exam timeline, which helps applicants plan their activities.

The UGC NET June 206 examination will take place from June 22 to June 30 2026 through computer-based testing at various locations throughout India. The exam will assess numerous subjects and this year the examination will introduce Statistics as a new subject which increases the total number testing disciplines available to candidates.

The examination system has implemented this change to better match current academic and research developments while providing students from different educational backgrounds with more pathways to success.

Candidates will be able to make corrections to their application forms between May 22 and May 24, 2026, while details regarding exam city allocation and admit card release are expected by June 10 and June 15, respectively.

The application fee varies by category, with different rates applicable for general, OBC, EWS, and reserved category candidates. The exam will take place in multiple shifts to assess candidates on general teaching and research aptitude through Paper 1 and their selected subject through Paper 2.
