UAE Tensions Push Indian Campuses Online as Students Return

  • United Arab Emirates conflict forces BITS, IIT, and IIM campuses to shift classes online temporarily
  • Indian students return home due to safety concerns, travel disruptions, and rising regional geopolitical tensions
  • Institutes prioritise student safety, ensure academic continuity through virtual learning and flexible scheduling arrangements

Various Indian educational institutions which operate campuses in the United Arab Emirates have transitioned to online classes because of rising geopolitical conflicts in West Asia.

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad have implemented safety measures to protect their students while maintaining academic operations.

The BITS Pilani Dubai campus which serves many Indian students has established remote learning solutions while delaying all upcoming examinations and assessments.

Students have been advised to either remain indoors following safety guidelines or return to India while continuing their studies virtually. The institute has been monitoring the situation closely while keeping contact with students and parents to answer their safety and travel disruption inquiries.

The Dubai campus students at IIM Ahmedabad have been moved to the Indian main campus which enables them to complete their studies without any interruptions.

The Abu Dhabi campus of IIT Delhi has changed its academic calendar by moving holidays and upcoming teaching methods to later dates which will be decided based on current events.

The campuses have witnessed a major exodus of students and staff members who have returned to India because of travel restrictions and unpredictable flight conditions.

The crisis has caused disruptions to air travel in the region which creates unsafe conditions for students who need to travel. The institutions now give priority to flexible solutions because they provide online classes while rescheduling their academic activities.

The measures show that international education gets directly affected by global conflicts which force universities to create emergency plans that protect students while their studies continue.
