University of Leeds to Ensure Industry Experience for Masters' Students

The University of Leeds has started a guaranteed industry consulting project for students enrolled in all taught postgraduate (master's) programs starting in the academic year 2025–2026 in an effort to elevate the bar in postgraduate education.

The new project will give overseas students the professional skills and real-world experience that employers value most.

Greg Miller, Deputy Director of Student Opportunity, University of Leeds, said, “This is a game-changing initiative for students preparing for global careers. We’ve designed this program to offer every student—regardless of subject studied, background or prior experience—the opportunity to work on high-impact, real-world projects that strengthen their CV and professional direction.”

To address the most recent issues facing the business, the program will guarantee that each student works in small, diverse teams. Through the initiative, students will be able to tackle real-world issues in fields like sustainability, business strategy, social effect, and technological innovation. Because these projects are offered electronically, they will enable students to cooperate across boundaries. The project is significant to the industry as well.

“As per the finding from the pilot program, the impact is clear - 91% of students report greater confidence in their ability to contribute to future employers, 87% say they have increased career clarity and awareness, 89% note development of key skills including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, and 91% gain practical, relevant work experience,” says the university statement.

In addition, the institution provides paid employment, internships, leadership programs, career fairs, mentorship, start-up and enterprise advice, and employer events all year round.
