A big education project has been started by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) to offer free coaching classes for IIT, NIT, UPSC, PCS, and other entrance exams for students studying in their schools and intermediate colleges. This scheme is expected to benefit those students who come from poorer families and need quality coaching to get admission in good colleges and services.
As per the scheme, the students studying in municipal schools and colleges shall get coaching for engineering entrance examinations like JEE, which is the first step towards admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs), as well as civil services exams like UPSC and UPPSC. The objective of the coaching program is to make the students more academically ready by building their conceptual knowledge as well as exam skills.

The municipal authorities claimed that the program was intended to address the imbalance in education among students who come from poor backgrounds and those who go to expensive coaching centers. The program intends to provide free counseling and study tips for talented students who intend to join colleges or serve in government positions.
The coach training program is an initiative taken by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation to ensure better quality education in the schools under their purview, motivating students to aspire to take up national level exams. The officials feel that giving opportunities to the students at school level to receive professional coaching will motivate them to achieve great things academically and professionally.
The idea of coaching and mentoring is well received by educationists because it has been observed that many times it plays a vital role in success in competitive exams. There have been several such government-funded programs in India, which have proved to be very effective for economically backward students.
