Registration for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026 is nearing its deadline, with candidates required to complete the application process by September 15, 2026, at 5 PM. The registration window opened on August 3 and is being conducted through the official CAT website. IIM Indore is the convening institute for this year’s examination.

CAT 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on November 29, 2026, in three sessions across approximately 170 test cities in India. The computer-based examination will be used for admission to postgraduate management programmes at the 21 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), besides several other participating business schools.

Candidates seeking admission through CAT 2026 must complete their personal, academic and other required details on the application portal and pay the applicable registration fee before the deadline. The fee is ₹2,700 for General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates, while SC, ST and PwD candidates are required to pay ₹1,350.

The examination will assess candidates across three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). The CAT score is widely used by IIMs and other leading management institutions as part of their admission and selection processes.

IIM Indore has advised candidates to complete the registration well before the closing time to avoid technical issues or delays during the final stages of submission. The official deadline remains September 15 at 5 PM, and candidates should not rely on a possible extension unless formally announced by the examination authority.

The CAT 2026 admit card is scheduled to be made available from November 4, 2026, ahead of the examination. Candidates who successfully complete the registration process will be able to download their admit cards through the official portal.

CAT scores are accepted by the 21 IIMs and numerous other business schools, including leading management institutions and universities that use the examination for MBA and related postgraduate programmes. The test therefore remains one of India’s major national-level entrance examinations for management education.

With the application window set to close within days, prospective candidates yet to register are required to submit their forms and complete fee payment before the September 15 deadline.
