- Defence Research and Development Organisation offers internship with ₹30,000 stipend for engineering and postgraduate students.
- Applications open until May 15, selection based on academic merit and institutional recommendations.
- Internship provides hands-on experience in defence research, advanced technologies, and real-world scientific projects.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have announced its Paid Internship Programme 2026, which provides engineering students with an opportunity to gain practical experience in advanced defence research and technology. The initiative seeks to develop young scientists through hands-on experience with actual scientific projects, which they will conduct under the supervision of experienced researchers and scientists.
The internship program is available for final-year students who are studying B.E. and B.Tech. M.E and M.Tech Degrees in engineering fields which are related to their major. Students need to fulfill the academic requirements for their programs while maintaining an absence of backlogs to qualify for admission. The program seeks to attract students who demonstrate both exceptional academic achievement and strong passion for defense technology and innovation.
The application process began earlier this year and continues until May 15 2026 which serves as the final application date. The DRDO official portal and individual laboratory guidelines both provide application submission methods for interested candidates. The selection process uses merit-based criteria which evaluate candidates through their academic achievements and institutional recommendations.

The program main attraction comes from its appealing stipend which it provides to candidates who are chosen for selection. The internship program provides engineering students with its most valuable opportunity because interns will earn a monthly stipend of ₹30,000 during their entire internship period. The internship program lasts between four and six months and its starting date will occur between May and June of 2026.
Participants will have the chance to work in premier DRDO laboratories which include Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) in Delhi and other research centres which exist throughout the country. During the internship period students will work on advanced defence technology projects which include electronics and communication systems and advanced engineering solutions.
The DRDO internship program provides students with a special opportunity to acquire technical abilities while they experience real-world work environments and help develop India's defense research system. The initiative combines practical training with financial backing to create a program that prepares young engineers for upcoming employment opportunities in scientific and technological fields and national security jobs.
