The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced its paid internship programme for 2026, which provides engineering and science students an opportunity to obtain practical experience in defence research and advanced technologies.

The internship is designed primarily for students who will be in their final year of B.E./B.Tech or pursuing M.E./MTech programmes in the 2026–27 academic session. The program enables participants to work on actual projects for national security and innovative work at DRDO laboratories, which provides them with practical experience that connects their academic studies to real workplace environments.

The internship lasts for six months which allows students to conduct thorough research while acquiring technical abilities. The selected candidates will get a stipend of ₹15,000 which will be divided into two payments payment will occur after three months and the second payment will happen after they complete their entire internship. Interns need to attend work for at least 15 days each month to receive their stipend.

The eligibility requirements state that applicants must be enrolled in accredited institutions and fulfil the academic standards which DRDO has established. The selection process mainly follows a merit-based system which also includes an interview or interaction session for applicant assessment when there are many candidates. The selection process will use age as a determining factor when candidates have identical academic performance results.
