The Odisha government has introduced a set of major initiatives aimed at transforming higher education in the state, with a strong focus on student safety, skill development, and employability. The reform launch includes the ShaktiShree mobile application and the development of an internship framework which follows the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 standards.
The national workshop maintained its educational focus through its participation of important policymakers and education leaders and institutional representatives who attended the event.
The ShaktiShree application serves as a protective and supportive tool for female college students across all educational institutions. The system offers multiple safety features which include continuous SOS emergency alerts and anonymous harassment reporting and mental health service access.
The platform provides users with direct access to Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) which enables them to submit complaints for rapid and efficient resolution. The application includes tools which help to establish a more secure and supportive university environment which will increase the number of women who participate in higher education.
The government has developed an extensive internship program together with the application to create pathways between academic studies and practical work experience. The guidelines require students to gain practical experience through internships and community service activities and skill development programs.

The programs help students develop essential skills and practical work experience needed for their future employment. The framework encourages educational institutions to work with businesses which create stronger connections between academic programs and job opportunities.
Officials demonstrated that the reforms they proposed match the educational goals of NEP 2020, which establishes complete educational systems that include multiple fields of study and skill development programs.
The initiatives work to achieve two objectives which are to boost employability and to improve the quality of higher education throughout the state. The government repeated its dedication to making Odisha a top knowledge center through its efforts to promote innovation and inclusiveness and academic excellence.
The combined rollout of the ShaktiShree app and internship guidelines represents a significant step toward modernising Odisha's educational system. The state develops an inclusive higher education system which prepares students for future needs by solving safety issues and developing essential skills.
