The University System of Georgia Board of Regents has approved a major initiative at Georgia Tech. A new School of Arts, Entertainment, and Creative Technologies will be created within the College of Design – as well as a Bachelor of Science degree. This will be the Institute’s first program built specifically for film, gaming, immersive media, and music - creating distinct pathways that will differentiate ideas in these areas to the workplace.
The new major will launch in Fall 2026, with integrated internships, co-ops, and industry-sponsored studios, to position Georgia Tech as a national epicenter for experience-based arts and the education of creative technologies.

Similarly to what happens inside the classroom, Georgia Tech is also innovating outside of the classroom in terms of creativity. Georgia Tech has plans for the Creative Quarter, which will be an arts and entertainment innovation district next to campus. The Creative Quarter will offer students enhanced facilities, including performance halls, VR and AI labs, maker spaces and production studios, and will facilitate collaboration between students in the areas of arts, technology and research.
These developments strengthen Georgia Tech’s larger mission: to embed the arts and creativity in the academic culture. Examples include whether the new degree, immersive festival events, such as the TechArts Festival, or interdisciplinary programs, the Institute is enhancing its reputation in nascent creative industries and markets.
