RRB JE 2026 Opens 4,098 Junior Engineer Vacancies

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have announced a recruitment drive for 4,098 vacancies across technical positions, including Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA). The recruitment offers engineering graduates and diploma holders an opportunity to secure technical positions in Indian Railways, with the online application process scheduled to commence on August 14, 2026.
According to the recruitment notification, the vacancies are distributed across various Railway Recruitment Boards nationwide and cover multiple engineering disciplines. Of the total openings, 3,749 posts are for Junior Engineers, 314 for Depot Material Superintendents, and 35 for Chemical & Metallurgical Assistants. The recruitment aims to strengthen Indian Railway’s technical workforce to support infrastructure development, maintenance, and operational efficiency across the network.

Eligible candidates possessing a diploma or degree in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognised institution can apply through the official RRB recruitment portal. The detailed notification, including post-wise eligibility, age criteria, reservation norms, examination pattern, and syllabus, will be made available before the commencement of the application process. Applicants are advised to review the official notification carefully to ensure they meet all eligibility requirements before submitting their applications.
The selection process is expected to include multiple stages, comprising a Computer-Based Test (CBT-1), followed by CBT-2 for shortlisted candidates. Junior Engineers recruited through this drive will be responsible for supervising maintenance activities, supporting railway infrastructure projects, inspecting engineering works, and ensuring operational safety across different railway zones.
