The University of East Anglia has come up with an International PG Merit Scholarship for the academic year 2026–2027 which will benefit the most talented Indian pupils wishing to enroll for the Master's courses in September 2026 or January 2027.

The scholarship will assure the award according to the performance of the undergraduate studies with students attaining the equivalence of a UK 2:1 bachelor's degree being awarded GBP 7,000 and those with a UK 2:2 equivalent getting GBP 6,000. Awards are applied directly to tuition and are only for the first year of the course.

The disciplines among which the scholarship is spread are Biological Sciences; Chemistry, Pharmacy and Pharmacology; Computing Sciences; Economics; Education; Engineering, Mathematics and Physics; Environmental Sciences; Global Development; Health Sciences; History; Law; Literature, Drama and Creative Writing; Media, Language and Communication Studies; Medicine; Norwich Business School; Politics, Philosophy, Language and Communication Studies; Psychology; Social Work; and Sociology.

Certain courses are not eligible, including MBBS, Integrated Masters, MSc Occupational Therapy, MSc Physiotherapy, MSc Plant Genetics and Crop Improvement, MSc Global Plant Health, and MA The Arts of Africa, Oceania and The Americas.

Indian applicants benefit from automatic consideration once they receive an offer from UEA, eliminating the need for a separate scholarship application. The award is only available alongside the International Early Payment Awards and cannot be combined with other UEA scholarships.

Students fully sponsored by external organisations are ineligible, though government or educational loans requiring repayment do not affect eligibility.

“We want to make sure that bright international students, especially from India and the broader South Asian region, have access to high-quality, postgraduate education, and meaningful research opportunities. These scholarships are meant to recognise strong academic achievement and reduce financial burden. We hope this assistance helps students begin their advanced studies with greater confidence, security, and a strong sense of belonging to the UEA”, said Prof Steven McGuire, UEA’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor International.
