IIT Delhi to Begin its PhD Program in Abu Dhabi

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has announced the launch of a PhD program at its international campus in Abu Dhabi, focusing on Energy and Sustainability. This program is set to commence in January 2025 with its inaugural batch of scholars. This initiative underscores IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi's dedication to fostering advanced research and innovation in crucial areas of energy and sustainability, addressing pressing global challenges through academic excellence.

The deadline for submitting online applications is December 31, 2024, with interviews scheduled shortly thereafter. Selected candidates are expected to join by the final week of January 2025.

This new PhD program follows the earlier introduction of an MTech program in Energy Transition and Sustainability in January 2024, as well as two BTech programs in Computer Science and Engineering and Energy Engineering launched in September 2024. IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi continues to focus on its growth by offering cutting-edge academic programs while prioritizing high-end research in areas critical to the UAE, particularly sustainable energy.

The PhD program will tackle contemporary issues related to achieving NetZero targets, encompassing research on renewable energy, sustainable process engineering, decarbonization, process intensification, microgrids, power distribution, and the application of AI and data science in facilitating the energy transition. Students will engage with pressing topics for their doctoral dissertations, addressing global challenges in technology and management related to energy transition and environmental sustainability.

For the inaugural cohort of applicants for the January 2025 intake, the application fee has been waived. Qualified candidates, including both UAE nationals and international students, will receive full tuition waivers and attractive monthly scholarships. The selection process will be rigorous, assessing candidates based on academic merit, qualifying examination scores, relevant experience, and performance in interviews.
