NCERT, IIT Madras Join Hands to Boost Education Research

- NCERT and IIT Madras sign MoU to boost tech-driven educational innovation.

The NCERT and IIT Madras entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), intended to enhance educational research, technology integration, and teacher training, in accordance with the nation’s National Education Policy (NEP). The agreement signifies a crucial partnership between a top educational and research organization and a prominent technical institution.
Under the MoU, NCERT and IIT Madras will collaboratively create and test advanced educational solutions, such as AI/ML-powered digital tools, multilingual platforms, and data analytics systems to improve learning results and expand effective interventions. The collaboration will enhance teacher-capacity-building initiatives utilizing advanced technological platforms, along with enabling extensive evaluation of intervention effectiveness through analytics.
“This collaboration is rooted in our shared vision of leveraging technology, research and innovation to transform teaching and learning at scale,” said a representative of IIT Madras. “By integrating digital tools, multilingual capabilities and robust analytics under the NEP framework, we aim to create models that can be deployed broadly across states and schools.”

Preliminary initiatives will concentrate on pilot programs at chosen institutions, followed by scaling the most effective models throughout the country. Main focus areas of the MoU consist of joint development of research and development projects in educational methods and technology integration, implementation of digital learning resources, multilingual platforms, and AI/ML systems to aid teacher training and student education, as well as the application of data analytics systems to evaluate learning outcomes, enhance interventions, and facilitate evidence-based expansion.
Combining NCERT’s extensive national presence and specialized knowledge with IIT Madras’ technological and research strengths, the collaboration aims to boost innovation in school education, improve teacher efficiency, expand access to digital learning, and advance the NEP’s goal of promoting skilled, inclusive, technology-driven education.
