Alliance School of Law
Following in the footsteps of her father, who is a leading advocate in Kerala High Court, Ameena Rafeek joined Alliance School of Law in 2013 to pursue her dreams of becoming a lawyer. The opportunities Ameena got at Alliance were beyond her expectations. Today, in the fifth semester of her BBA LLB (Hons.) she has already attended two international conferences - Emerging Market Business Summit in Poland and Southern Regional Model United Nations Conference in the U.S. \"In this age of cut-throat competition, international exposure has become something of an unspoken necessity. My experience in other countries and the tangible access to the resources as well as the ambience of the host universities have helped me transform from being a mere law student to a focused and aspiring lawyer,\" says Ameena who won \'Outstanding Delegation Award\' for individual performance and \'Distinguished Delegation Award\' for group performance in U.N Model Assembly held at Atlanta, U.S.
While, Ameena\'s aims to represent her homeland in other countries by becoming an Indian Foreign Service officer, her degree will help her take up competitive examinations such as ICWAI, Company Secretary, UPSC and other judicial examination without facing any difficulties. To extend the support for such aspirations of students and to meet the demands of modern times, Alliance University has developed a well-designed curriculum for both BA LLB (Hons.) and BBA LLB (Hons.) where practical training compliments the theoretical concepts. The institute strictly adheres to all the rules and regulations of BCI (Bar Council of India) and updates the syllabus every year and whenever changes in law are thought. Hence, new subjects like Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Corporate Law and Cyber Law are taught as independent subjects of specialization in the master\'s degree, which are well received by the student community. However, the institute concentrates not only on law in books but also law in action. Workshops and seminars are conducted frequently by stalwarts in the field regarding patent filing, trademarks design law, copy right law and cyber law in order to train the students effectively, which would make them ready to practice independently when they graduate from the law school.
\"It is true that mastering the fundamentals is essential and we have taken all precautions to lay down a very good foundation for law students in the first two years. However, we have struck a balance between tradition and modernity. Law cannot be stagnant, it should be updated as society progresses, that is why it is said that law is an instrument of social change,\" says Dr. Madhukar Angur, Chancellor, Alliance University. With the help of an effective curriculum, which is a mix of fundamentals and modern principles, the institute provides ample opportunities for practical training and intensive internships that are intellectually monitored by professors of eminence. The Internship rules are not only well framed by the university but also effectively implemented to inculcate advocacy skills in studies and to bring seriousness to the profession with utmost discipline. At Alliance School of Law, every student has to complete 30 days of internship either in a Law Firm, Lawyers Chamber, Judges Chamber, Court Visits, Attorneys Office or MNC\'s. \"If the students are going to the Law Firms then they have to conduct themselves with dignity and never let down the reputation of the university,\" emphasizes Dr. Angur.
On the academic front, learning at Alliance School of Law is delivered by highly accomplished faculties who possess a wide range of expertise. The faculties at Alliance besides being excellent teachers are also accomplished researchers with numerous publications in journals of national and international repute and have actively contributed to legal academia through participation in conferences and seminars. They also strive to include case law discussions, moot-courts, debates and other pedagogical tools to enhance the rigor and relevance of the curriculum. In addition to the full-time faculty members, the teaching is complimented by a panel of distinguished and experienced visiting faculties from a consortium of leading accredited universities across the worlds as well as renowned legal practitioners.
\"It is true that the country has witnessed massive growth in affiliated Law colleges but the institutes imparting quality legal education are very few. Hence, there is a dearth for lawyers of quality and Judges of high stature and well versed bureaucrats in law who can handle the portals of administration very effectively. We are able to address these issues and the challenges of globalization, because we have raised our standard to international repute,\" says Dr. Angur. With an active placement cell that has 24 companies at its command, Alliance School of Law has left no stone unturned in their efforts to eradicate unemployment.
