The instillation of successful productivity amongst youngsters is an aspect to reckon with through the efforts of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering as it sets a milestone with every passing year and achieving heights in aspects like quality, infrastructure, faculty, research and placements. The institution established in 1997, is one of the ten educational institutions founded by "Vidyavardhaka Sangha". After having an initial start with four branches with a student intake of 240 on roll, the institution now has a remarkable intake of 540 at UG level and 192 at PG level. Currently the institution has a total of 2225 aspiring engineers stepping in for enlightenment.

Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering has a campus spread across 23 acres that is located in the heart of the city that supports endeavors of its students and teachers alike. The institute offers ample opportunity towards research and skill development. The campus has well established six research centers in mechanical engineering, computer science & engineering, environmental engineering, electronics and communications, business administration and mathematics. With 22 faculties from other institutions pursuing Doctorates at VVCE, the number is projected to reach 50 in a short span of time as two months with regard to the entries received in for the field. Research areas encompass new materials, image processing, and Nano technology and so on that is based on the field that is chosen by students.

Faculty at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering is a strong facet that contributes to its overall ranking. The total on-campus faculty of 141 has 17 PhD holders among them. Domains like Mechanical Engineering have over five doctorates and other branches have four doctorates as faculty. The institution's faculty has at least one PhD holder in every branch of the institution. There is aspiration to increase the number of PhD holders at VVCE. In over two years, about 30 PhD holders are projected to be part of the faculty. Most of the aspiring PhD holders are on the brink of completion and have submitted their respective thesis. The institute's total faculty has specialized in programs like M. Tech or MBA. The faculty at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering has ample experience and exposure of the industry and the IT sector that enable in producing quality materialistic lectures.

The institute is also tied with Intel and has an Intel Intelligent System Lab. It provides extensive training on circuit management, inter-disciplinary projects and various other domains. There is a lab established in association with WIPRO called Mission 10X Technology Learning Centre. The institute and its founding members have significantly invested for the infrastructure and amenities beyond the requirements of the AICTE norms.

The institution also stresses on co-curricular activities. It has an aspect called the E-cell which improvises on the entrepreneurial spirit of students. Its achievements are in plain sight with the victories its students have achieved. Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering has bagged the National Entrepreneur Network Championship in 2011. It was the runners up in 2012, 2013 and so on. The student entrepreneurial team comes up with frequent campus projects that encourage and enable entrepreneurial abilities of the students. They also carry out live projects as part of the final year curriculum and have a weekly publication of their own in Mysore on the basis of their projects and research. The institution also holds monthly lectures by distinguished company personnel. There are workshops conducted every now and then with constant upgradation of technology to meet the need of today's engineering requirements. VVCE has successfully conducted the second International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Management on from July 17 to 19 2014.

Placements at VVCE have seen a steep rise. The credited contribution for this is taken by a dedicated and designated placement segment where there is intense training provided from the first semester starting with basic knowledge and skill building. As time goes by, the training progresses on the core aspects to make the students industry ready. The industry strives at improvement and methods to improvise. The institution has recently seen 36 students being placed in Infosys, including this, 102 students have already been placed in various companies. Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda, Principal, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering; says, "On an average 25 to 30 companies visit the campus for recruitments. Last year's placements count around 120 students making up 75 percent of the eligible students who were placed across companies of various domains". As of now the placements at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering are in progress with frequent visits of companies and a projected rate of beyond 90 percent of placements from this academic year. With aspects and expertise as such, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering leaves no stone unturned in its pursuit to give society technical graduates of the higher regard.

Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda:

He is the principal of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering and a member of academic senate of VTU. He achieved his doctorate in 1996 from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He has over 18 years of teaching and 3 years of industry experience and has worked both in India and abroad.
