Employability is the need of every apprentice and when there is a need, it turns into demand. This universal demand is catered to by educational institutes to foster training and employment. The placement cell of RV College of Engineering has been successful in this facet of transforming education into employability. The institute established in 1963 is considered the best of its kind in Bangalore. It holds 95 percent placement record and has grown from strength to strength with 150 companies visiting the campus this year 2014-2015 for recruitment. Average annual emolument offered ranges from Rs. 6-20 Lakh, highest of which has reached upto Rs. 62 Lakhs. \"The outgoing students are already being placed and many of the recruiters are startups. The startup culture has risen tremendously and students either join one or begin one of their own,\" boasts Dr. K. N. Subramanya, Principal, RV College of Engineering.

For an institute to avail such placement strength, the pre- placement training program has to be strong. R.V. College of Engineering takes up the responsibility of imparting every student from third to sixth semester both with soft and entrepreneurial skills which prepares them well to confront industrial challenges. The institute has adopted an \"Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Experiential Learning\", so the curriculum is given utmost attention as it is with the placement activities and is prepared keeping in mind the industrial requirement, technological advancements in the regional and national sphere. CISCO, IBM, Intel, Samsung, Bosch, Wipro, ABB, Mindtree, Infosys, Cognizant and many more are among the recruiters RVCE witnesses. The institute also has more than 30 MOUs and collaborations mainly for training, internships, projects and Research. Companies have set up their lab inside the campus for students to continue their projects under them, which in return is making a student-company rapport enhancing students\' employability. Also, collaboration with National Entrepreneurship Network is involved in encouraging entrepreneurship development of the institute.

Since the past 15 years, the institute has been working on various research and innovation processes. It has 43 ongoing research projects sponsored by DRDO, ISRO, NRD, AICTE, UGC, World Bank supported TEQIP grant and many more which sums up to Rs. 25 Crore. RVCE has set up research facilities in the areas of Flexible Electronics, Rapid Prototyping, Wireless Communication, High Performance Computing (HPC), Ergonomics and Automation labs. Also, five new Interdisciplinary areas in the institution have been introduced such as Large Area and Flexible Microelectronics, Multi Functional Materials, Green Buildings, Data Warehousing and Cloud Computing. Schemes for fostering research in the institute is availed to the faculty members and sponsored as well. Currently, the faculty has 20 Patents and many more are under process. With faculty and student strength of 392 and 6000 respectively, Dr. Subramanya takes pride in having the best set of faculty as well as students in the state of Karnataka. Among the faculty members, majority holds an experience of ten to fifteen years in academics and 50 percent have Ph.D. degrees. FDPs, industrial visits, seminars, conferences and other such events are arranged for both faculty and students by the institute to keep abreast with the changing trends.

One of the primary reason why this institute is being chosen and considered as one of the best is its various scholarship schemes. 25 percent of the student population from both UG and PG courses receive an amount of Rs. 5 crore annually which includes SC/ST scholarship from the Government, low income group scholarship by the Govt of Karnataka and NHRD, OBC scholarship from various Govt agencies and Corporate scholarships given by Intel, Arvind Meritor, Jindal, NTT Data, GE, ABB, KPMG, Indian Oil Corporation, Cognizant Technologies, CITRIX, Schneider. Each year, RVCE Alumni award a scholarship of Rs. 65,000 to 20 students considering merit and their financial conditions. In the past 50 years, RV College of Engineering has educated approx. 30,000 students who could be found working in various companies and organizations across the globe. Apart from awarding a scholarship amount to the meritorious ones, they have actively contributed in setting up of laboratories and engage in discussions, seminars and Expert Lectures.

By 2025, RVCE plans to be among the 25 best institutes in Asia increasing upto 50 percent of the revenue obtained only from research work fostered in the college and also setting up an incubation centre which would promote more entrepreneurial ventures.

Dr. K. N. Subramanya, Principal

Dr. K N Subramanya is currently holding the position of Principal of R.V. College of Engineering., Bengaluru. He is also a Professor in the Dept. of Industrial Engineering and Management. He obtained his Bachelor\'s degree in Industrial & Production Engineering from Bangalore University. He received M.Tech in Industrial Management from IIT Chennai and PhD in Computer Science Engineering from Avinashilingam University, Coimbatore. He also holds a post graduate degree in Management with a specialization in Human Resource Management. His 25 years of experience includes teaching, training and research and this experience has been instrumental in adding up more to the success ladder in managing the institute of repute.
