Gems B School: Pioneering a New Perspective in Management Education
Contrary to the common consensus of making the students industry ready, Gems B School is not trying to get the students industry ready by the time they graduate, the students are already molded into industry professional by the time they graduate. \"The students walk out of the institution with two years of full time working experience,\" says, Gems Business School, Executive Director, Kunal Nehruji. \"The fact that we were all from the industry and had experience of corporate trainings and knowledge of the industry, we learned about the huge skill gap and that is when we came up with this concept, because we believe management cannot be taught in a classroom alone, the students have to get exposed to the corporate world as well,\" explains Kunal Nehruji, while he speaks to us about the inspiration behind the concept of \'work and study\'.
\"The students spend their week days in the companies and take their classes in the weekends. Due to the fact that they work on the same field the students are able to comprehend the topics more easily and are also able to apply the same at work, making them more productive and polished at their work,\" adds Kunal Nehruji. Due to the good corporate relations the institute maintains, the students are easily placed in reputed organizations such as IBM, Amazon, Gold Man Sachs, JP Morgan Chase etc, with packages ranging from 6 lakhs per annum to as high as 19 lakhs per annum after graduating. The corporate communication cell not only connects the institute with several organizations but also helps the students maintain a cordial relation with the companies.
Not only the industry relations but the institution also has a diversified curriculum as they are affiliated to different national and international universities such as Bharathiar University, University of Mysore and American Heritage University of southern California. The affiliations make them eligible to provide various courses that are under these universities. By organizing regular industry trips, guest lectures and Seminars, the institution also makes sure that the students know the objective of the institution they are studying in. The faculty and the students of the B School have published several papers in reputed peer reviewed journals and have presented papers in national and international conferences and seminars.
