About the University

In the year 1998, Shri Narayan Das Agrawal started the GLA Group of Institutions which became a fully functional University in 2010. Located in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh the campus of the University is spread across 80 plus acres of lush green land.

Programs Offered

The University is home to more than 6,000 students, studying in a range of professional courses in domains such as Engineering, Management, Arts, Sciences, Humanities, Teacher Education and even Polytechnic.

Interactive Programs & MoU\'s

On realization that students need to become more employable, the University designed multiple courses in decision making, problem solving and critical thinking. While the institute consults with various companies such as Cognizant, Wipro, Infosys, TCS and a variety of other companies and ask them what their requirements are; they invite people from these organizations to give seminars on critical thinking to students.

GLA University has signed various MoUs with Research Laboratories and National level Skill development organisations. Some of them are with CGRI, Agra, CIDC, New Delhi and NIESBUD, Noida.

However, another important part is the assessment. Each student is regularly assessed and is asked to give an adaptive test which allows the University to understand how the students are growing in the areas of critical, thinking, problem solving and decision making. For this very purpose GLA University has tied up with some of the leading companies and setup the Centers of Excellence such as IBM Center of Excellence, Rockwell Automation Lab and Wipro Lab.

Academic Resources

Life at GLA runs 24x7 and 75 percent of the students live on campus which is why the University has built 14 different hostels. Most of the laboratories at GLA University are available to the Faculty members and the students 24 hours a day. Utilizing this facility the faculty members are able to do their research projects even after college hours. However, the Biotechnology department specifically keeps their labs open at all hours so that students who are doing their research projects can keep various types of cultures and experiments on for 24 hours. Along with one central library each institute and department has a separate library. The central library has more than hundred thousand books, journals, magazines, newspapers, encyclopedia & thousands of CDs.

Faculty

GLA University employs more than 350 qualified faculty members. 25 percent of them hold PhDs and have prior work experience of 2 to 3 years. The University values the freedom of the faculty members in terms of thinking, research, and also teaching the subjects. The biggest benefit the faculty members gain, apart from well paid salaries is that their entire research projects are funded by the University.

However, while recruiting the University ensures that each faculty members who joins them has to compulsorily attend 2 conferences and write 1 research paper every year. GLA University also conducts regular faculty development programs for its faculty. Professors from IITs and IIMs are invited by the University to teach and train the faculty members while conducting the faculty development programs to improve the faculty members skills sets and remove any shortcomings.

Sports and Cultural activities

The University has students coming from 17 different states. The University along with the student bodies created cultural festivals called \'Jhoom\' and \'Spandan\' where students actively participate in all the activities.

The University also conducts \'MAITREE\' inter college sports festivals. When the sports festival was conducted last year more than 26 colleges and 500 students participated in it. Students are encouraged to become part of a variety of clubs such as athletics clubs, badminton club and others. There are Departmental Societies being run by the students. There are more than 20 clubs too which keep the environment of the University vibrant. Every hostel has a gym attached to it to ensure an overall body development. The University has also ensured to provide space for Yoga practice. Specialised coaches are available to nurture the specific hobbies of the students in classical music, fine arts, basketball and cricket.

Placement

GLA University has achieved over 70 percent placement in the last 5 years. This year the University has been able to achieve 100 percent placements in Management, Pharmacy and Computer Science. Companies such as Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, Samsung, Bosch, HDFC, Amaron Batteries and others are some of the companies that visit the University for Recruitment every year. Most of these companies keep visiting GLA University as they believe that the students who pass out of the University add extra value to them.

Roadmap

The University hopes to start a number of new courses in the upcoming academic year. Courses such as Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, Master of Science in Microbiology and Immunology and BBA- Family Business will be offered to students who prefer such courses. While the University offers a variety of M.Tech programs, they have decided to restructure some of these programs to match the current requirements and therefore allow the students to face the corporate world without any support.
