The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), established by an Act of Parliament in 1985, has continuously striven to build an inclusive knowledge society through inclusive education. It offers high-quality teaching through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. With strength of 4,528 students, the University began by offering two academic programs in 1987, which includes Diploma in Management and Diploma in Distance Education. At present, it serves the educational aspirations of over three million students in India and other countries through 21 Schools of Studies and a network of 67 regional centers, around 2,667 learner support centers and 29 overseas partner institutions. The University offers about 228 certificate, diploma, degree and doctoral programs, with strength of nearly 810 faculty members and 574 academic staff at the headquarters and regional centers.

The IGNOU Management Program is one of the leading Management Programs in the world and imparts quality flexible education at the doorstep of the learners. It also offers MBA programs to various African countries, as part of Pan-African e-network Project. The School follows a multimedia approach in program delivery. It comprises self-instructional printed course material packages sent to the student directly by post, supporting audio-video programs, face to face interaction with academic counselors at study centers, assignment for assessment and feedback, telecast of video programs on Doordarshan, broadcast of audio programs on all India Radio and live teleconferencing along with other learner friendly features.
