Kristu Jayanti College, founded in 1999, is run by 'Bodhi Niketan Trust,' formed by the members of the St. Joseph Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). In a matter of 18 years, Kristu Jayanti College has grown exponentially in the number of programs, in the number of students and in the full-time faculty strength, considering that the institute had a humble beginning with one course, nine students and three full time academic faculty members. Today, the total number of students in the institute is 5300, representing all the states in the country with 49.5 percent of girl students and 26 percent of SC, ST and OBC students. Among them, there are 40 foreign students from 22 nationalities, pursuing regular programs in the institution. There are 149 faculty members and 44 administrative staff, contributing to the academic growth of the students.

"Since we have adopted the Choice Based Credit System with an objective to enable the students towards vertical and horizontal mobility in learning, the students have the option to choose from a list of courses offered by different departments and acquire credits by combining unique combinations. This gives the students an experience of the inter-disciplinary approach to higher education that is broad based and at par with global standards," shares Fr. Josekutty.
"In the era where learning from open sources and advanced technologies have become prevalent, teaching faces more challenges to have an extra edge over the resources available," opines Fr. Augustine George. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and all the classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors. The Innovative Approaches to Teaching and Learning priority seeks to identify and scale up innovative approaches to teaching and learning that significantly improve student outcomes. Fr. Innovative teaching methods are changing the classroom experience, helping the students to improve their technical skills and communication."
The globally competitive curriculum of Kristu Jayanti College is supplemented by interactive learning platforms. The MCA Programme in its curriculum has added most recent technologies in the domain of Software Testing, Data Analytics and J2EE. These technologies are imparted by experts from IT Industry as Add-on courses, providing hands-on experience to the learners. Along with this the students get ample of opportunities through the "Tech-Talk" Series and Industry Institute Interactions � "3i" sessions to interact with industry experts. Every year an International Conference is conductedin technical co-sponsorshipwith IEEE, Bangalore Chapter and also the conference proceedings are published with its association.

These sessions provide hands-on training on latest technologies like JQuery, Python, Matlab, Hadoop, R Programming, Rapid Miner and Selenium IDE.
Besides the regular set of activities the department organizes various co-curricular, extracurricular and extension activities to enhance the holistic growth of the students. Web Designing Lab, VB .Net and C#, ASP.NET, NSDC Certification Programme in Animation, FOSS Certificate courses collaborated with IIT Mumbai are also part of the MCA Programme. "The academic input provided to the students in addition to the regular curriculum along with exposure to industry in the form of the Internship, minor project work, Industrial visits, Interaction with experts, middle and higher management representative are enabling the students of the department to be tech savvy and industry ready," says Prof. Kumar, the Head of the Department.
The college provides soft skill training programs and the experiences gained thorough intra and inter collegiate fests provide confidence, communication skill, leader ship and organisational prudence to the students. The training and exposure provided to the students hone their skills and it has been clearly witnessed in the success of the MCA students in the inter-collegiate events at state and national level. In the year 2016, the students of the department have won 12 overall championship trophies competing against some of the best minds of the India. "The response provided by the employers during the placement processes were great; the highest package received in the last placement season was Rs. 9.25 LPA," claims Fr. Josekutty.
