The higher education system in India has grown in a remarkable way to become one of the largest systems of its kind with several career choices and institutes to choose from. The institution leaves no stone unturned to provide learning opportunities that fosters students' ethical values, intelligent development in science & technology and encourages placement activities as an important part of their curriculum. For last few successive years, the institute has recorded 95 percent and more placements for its students most witnessed by major industrial organizations such as Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, and Accenture. The average annual package ranges from Rs. 4.5 - 7 Lakh and extends to Rs. 16.5 Lakh depending on the students' performances. "A student carries at least two offers in hand when one leaves the institute after completion of the course," claims Dr. Puttaraju, Principal, SJBIT. Every year the institute conducts Skill Enhancement Program as proposed by VTU Karnataka and welcomes industrial experts to expose their students with industrial insights. Having MoUs with more than 50 organizations, these programs are responsible for a student's exposure to the industry, industry stalwarts and vice versa thereby contributing to such a successful placement record for SJBIT. One of the strong pillars of the institute is Alumni Relation. The alumni of SJBIT have a stronghold in making the newer batches more capable to cope up with industrial needs. Every Year Alumni meet is addressed in the vicinity of the institute indulging both old and new batches of students to form a cocoon. The newer participant are said to have found it interesting to attend such discussions presented by the young generations from the industry providing information on latest industrial trends unlike the usual lectures by the teachers.
The institute boasts of a group of faculties having expertise in their respective fields and experience in various academic and industry verticals. The faculties are not only in the delivery end but also at the receiving end. As there are Skill Enhancement program for students so as Faculty Development Program conducted at the same level throughout the academic year. Various seminars, discussions and faculty workshop programs are organized to add the cutting edge superiority in the level of teaching in the institute. Most of the faculty members hold a Doctoral degree and the rest are encouraged by the institute to pursue the same. Research as such is another important emerging factor of SJBIT. Various MoUs have been signed with organizations to conduct research activities inside the campus. The institute has set up a research cell worth Rs. 4 crore to conduct research activities involving students from various institutes along with their MTech students. There are eight laboratories set up for different domains and projects with various institutes and organizations. Organizations such as Hiccups Software Pvt Ltd, Power Research Development Consultants are a part of these activities providing certification program from Oracle, Intel and Cisco. These organizations train the students in their respective domains enhancing a multi cultural learning for the students. Also, the institute gives out a scholarship Rs 35000 each to meritorious students each year.
SJBIT has an Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) run by the Department of Management to indulge the students with entrepreneurial skills. This cell supports various ideas of the students and incubates them until the product is ready to be launched in market. The institute has an amount of Rs. 2 crore for such entrepreneurial ventures and helps the individual to set up their own organization. Dr Puttaraju takes pride mentioning about two such students who have come up with software products completely supported by the institute in establishing the same. The products are ready to be launched in the industry which motivates the institute to encourage more of this kind in coming years.
The institute has received award of "Excellent Training and Placement institute in Karnataka" by VTU, along with ten other technical organizations in Karnataka. According to T-School survey conducted by CMR-DATA Quest during May 2015, our institute has been ranked as No. 1 among the institutes under Visvesvaraya Technological University, No. 1 in Karnataka, No. 5 in south region and No. 14 on all India basis (among the private engineering institutions), the institute also envisions being recognized as a technical education center with global perspective.

He is the principal of SJB Institute of Technology. Having immense experience in academics and industry work culture, Puttaraju has been engaged with the institute for a considerable amount of time and have been instrumental in taking the institute's reputation to a new height.
