Lijin Krishnan, second year PGDM student of Rajagiri Centre of Business Studies, Kochi, says how his life in college has been a crucial part of his life. "Being at one of the most crucial and formative stages of my life, I consider myself most fortunate to be exposed to such a richly, multifaceted and educative influence. I know that I am evolving in a way that determines my future positively; our campus offers a diverse and dynamic platform for personality development."
Striking a perfect balance between education and fun, Rajagiri College has built a culture which is an eclectic mix of academic and extracurricular pursuits. It encompasses in its ambit a wide range of activities related to various disciplines. Besides, it offers a unique opportunity to interact with other students and experience the rich and diverse culture of India.
To complement an exacting academic training, Rajagiri encourages and offers plethora of opportunities for students for their all- round personality development. The students are taken to various camps like rural camp which is a hands-on experience in management and primarily aimed at sensitizing students socially. "Vanavasam" is a three day camp where students experience living in the forest. It aims at shaping student's behavior in an organizational perspective and in nurturing good corporate citizens. One of the important activities is Rajagiri management fest – Inflore, provides a platform for prospective managers from 40 B-Schools in India to prove their mettle in various events through wit and intellect. The institute exemplifies a combination of student's interests and passions in one experience, and moving ahead with what they want to do with their career. Rajagiri Centre for Business Studies is located in a picturesque valley in the IT hub of Kochi, Kakkanad. The Centre is driving by a single minded focus on imparting value based management education to equip young professionals to make their mark in the corporate world.
The campus is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure. Classrooms are well-planned and spacious to facilitate long hours of teaching and interaction. Communication Laboratory with Studio facility has already been set up offering special courses in the areas of communications, individual and group behavior, presentation skills and interview training. The lab provides facility for recording and playback exercises.
The college instills every ingredient in the students, to be at par with a world class manager. Every moment spent in the campus is a learning experience for the students from the case study analysis, quizzes, class participation, and evening presentations. Timings are no constraint.
Sports
All work and no play is no way to relish an academic stay. Rajagiri encompasses numerous venues and provides plentiful avenues through which students, faculty and staff can sweat it out, raise their endorphin levels and relax after hours of classes, labs and research. The Institute hosts large cricket grounds, hockey and soccer fields, basket ball and badminton courts, Tennis and squash Courts, Jogger's track and a large arena for Table tennis amongst many other sports facilities. Students not only indulge in recreational, but also, competitive sports. They take active part in inter college sports competition. The college also heavily invests in the security of students.
Furthermore, a lot of cultural activities and competitions are organized by various clubs every month. A committee named 'Forms' consisting of 10-20 students conduct all the cultural events. For every student, coming to campus and meeting peers with different experiences, culture, background is like bursting the bubble. It opens eye to reality. Although located in a tier II city, the college has encouraged students from all over to be a part of the campus and experience life.
The non-academic life on campus is as enriching and enlightening as the academic experience in Rajagiri can be. Living far away from home, for the first time in most cases, youngsters find new, extended families in their wings, hostels, departments and classes.
It's often said that, "the difference between the ordinary and extra ordinary is the little extra." Every student must know the little extras that should be added to his life to be the extra ordinary. There are many ways that one can think about and reflect upon the nourishing experiences they have while being in Rajagiri. "Words can't describe the way in which Rajagiri has transformed me to a person who knows that essence of commitment is exerting mind and effort to stay in the game long enough until the end. I have learned the value of perseverance in thought and action which has helped me achieve what I have never imagined doing," says Lijin.
