Since its inception, this belief of RMKEC has been realized by providing a conducive environment for learning, recruiting quality faculty and offering facilities for skill enhancement for both faculty and the students. R. S. Munirathinam, Founder Chairman RMKEC states, "Our institute has been focused to uplift the condition of technical education and every factor involved is minutely developed to meet the needs of industry and the students." RMKEC has been awarded 84th Rank among all Engineering Institutions across the Country including IITs and NITs by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development in NIRF Ranking 2017.
At RMKEC, the faculty members are given autonomy to decide their teaching methodology and evaluation criteria. The college management encourages them to pursue higher studies such as Ph.D and M.Phil to improve their expertise. They also support the faculty members by sponsoring them to participate in conferences, workshops, seminars, FDPs, Symposia at the national and international levels. As a result, the faculty members of RMKEC actively publish papers in refereed journals and involve in innovative projects, consultancy and sponsored projects.
At RMKEC, all the students are members of professional societies such as ISTE, IEEE, ISOI, SAE, CSI and IEI, which have created a collaborative learning platform for the students.
To bridge the gap between industry and institution, the institution has established various Centre-of-Excellence (CoE) Laboratories in all the departments. This helps them to provide value addition to the students through intensive in-house training in the niche areas of opportunities and thereby students become industry-ready and updated as per the current scenario. The various Centre-of-Excellence Laboratories in collaboration with industries are CoE in Factory Automation, Building Management Systems, Mixed signal design, ARM Technology, Product Life Cycle Management, Digital Enterprises, Big Data Analytics, Telecom, Embedded Systems, Information Security, Front End Technologies and Automotive Electronics.
The institute has a strong teaching learning process and the teachers adopt the strategies based on the requirements to bridge skill gap between the academia and the industry. Interactive learning through regular classes are supported by seminars, quiz, role-play, debates, brainstorming sessions and group discussions. Seminars and guest lectures are arranged to encourage students to interact with eminent and experienced resource personnel from the Industry to improve their technical knowledge and to know the latest trends in the Industry. "Various pre-placement training programs are offered to the students all the year and they are benefitting because of the training programs. There are regular recruiters of our institution which include 110 software companies and 115 core companies, making a successful placement record of 84 percent," says R. M. Kishore, Vice Chairman, RMKEC.
At RMKEC, all the students are members of professional societies such as ISTE, IEEE, ISOI, SAE, CSI and IEI, which have created a collaborative learning platform for the students. Industrial visits, in-plant training and summer internships are arranged for students by various departments to enhance their practical knowledge. Activities under department associations, symposia, technical club, coding club, science club and sports club are meant to enhance peer learning.
RMKEC has constantly encouraged its faculty members and students to apply for funding for research projects from various funding agencies. Students are encouraged to participate in the proposals for the innovative projects through the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) by the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology and Government of India. This centre has witnessed many successful student projects and approved patents.
RMKEC has signed MoUs with a number of international universities such as University of Missouri, USA, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, University of Leicester, UK and many more. These collaborations further help for research projects, running number of learning programs and much more opportunities for students and faculty members. With efforts so dedicated and belief so strong, RMKEC has developed resources and infrastructure for an incomparable teaching-learning process. Seeking its vision to be the most preferred destination in the country for pursuing education in engineering and its allied fields, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the institute has proven its contribution towards the technical education.
