SJCIT has been imparting technical and management education since 1986. Located on the outskirts of Bangalore, the Institution is managed by Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust. The Trust runs 485 Institutions all over the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu & Delhi. SJCIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum. The Institution is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, accredited by NBA and ISO 9001:2008 certified.

The management of SJCIT has initiated a program called 'Vidyarthi Pragathi Scheme' to encourage the academic proficiency of the students. The students who maintain 80 percent or above aggregate in the university examinations receive 50 percent concession in the mess bill at hostels. Those who secure first class with distinction receive two additional books in the library, in addition to the regular borrowing facility. This scheme has been successfully implemented by the institute and has received remarkable growth in the academic result of the students. The college has produced nearly 40 rank holders from various engineering disciplines in its journey so far.
The Institute also plays a key role in developing the core competencies, values and character to ensure that they have the capabilities to thrive in the society and become a better leader. They start a week by assembling all staffs and students to recite 'Gurumantra', 'Shantimantra' and National Anthem. It helps them start their day with a positive mindset.
Department of Human Resource Development
Instead of conventional placement and training cell, the institute started Department of Human Resource Development (HRD) in 2013 under the leadership of Prof. Gurucharan Singh. SJCIT is one of the very few colleges where the concept of HRD has been implemented successfully. In general, the department takes care of Corporate Affairs, HR Policies, Rules and Regulations, General Administration, Branding Activities and
Placements.
The HRD is playing a major role in articulating the students to the needs of the industry. They organize technical and HR related lectures and seminars with the assistance of the core group from the respective industries to enable the students to get an insight into the industry. The HRD Department also believes in industry collaboration and has been successful in organizing pre-induction programs for the selected engineers to be conducted within the campus.

The institute has a rich faculty, which comprises of more than 21 PhD holders and nearly 30 faculty members are pursuing PhD in their respective fields under deputation from SJCIT.

To give students hands on training in research and innovations, the institute has stated research centers in various departments. Civil Engineering department, Mechanical Engineering department, Computer Science & Engineering department, Department of Chemistry and Department of Physics are the major research centers working under the institute at present.
Along with research centers, the institute has managed to make many MoUs with the corporate world. Infosys Technologies, Tata Elxsi Limited, Rapsri Engg. Industries Ltd., Confederation of Indian Industry, EMC2 Data System PVT. Ltd., Bosch Rexroth Pvt. Ltd. and Zestech Pvt. Ltd. have tied up with SJCIT. The people from those organizations visit the college frequently to give training and to pick the best among the students for their organization.
Dr. T Munikenche Gowda - Principal
Dr. T Munikenche Gowda started his career in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at S J C Institute of Technology from its inception 1986, as a Lecturer and is currently heading the institution as the principal. He obtained Post Graduate degree in Machine Design in 1992 and Doctoral Degree in the year 2003 from the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore University. He has also published and presented 13 National technical papers and 4 international technical papers in renowned journals.
