Started functioning from a remote area, one of the biggest challenges for the SRKR Engineering College was retaining its faculty members. This addressed this issue permanently by facilitating wages and incentives to the faculty members as per Government norms, allowing them to enjoy and remain to contribute to the growth of the institute. Recognized as scientific and industrial research organization, the SRKR Engineering College has a number of ongoing research funded programs by various organizations - Rs. 22 crore funded projects and more than 1800 publications. The SRKR Engineering College has 40+ collaborations with universities and institutes spread across the world including Singapore, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Netherlands and many more for research activities and faculty exchange programs. The institute has also collaborated with Stanford University and Harvard University for Skill Development programs. "We have established 14 centres-of-excellence and conduct research in the areas like Water & Environment Technology, Geo-Spatial Technologies, Metal Matrix Composites, Spatial Data Processing, Bioinformatics, Internet of Things, Biomedical & Image processing, RF Systems & Antennas, Space Technology" shares Dr. Varma.

The SRKR has recognized as Business Incubation Centre (MSME) by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and each of their department facilitated with innovation centres to encourage the student innovative projects. The institute has nine international product patents and nine start-ups have already come out of the SRKR Engineering College campus. "Our students get a lot of external funding from various Govt. Organizations for innovative projects. Now, more students are heading towards entrepreneurship and that shows their level confidence in what they are learning from here," opines Dr. Varma.

Having academic experience of 24 years, Dr. Varma is the National Executive Council Member of ISTE, Board Member of IUCEE &GEDC and represents many more such organizations. He has been recognized as PhD Guide for Andhra University, Nagarjuna University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University, Krishna University and had produced 9 Ph.D thesis. He has published six books and 169 research papers in various national and international journals.
