The Indian medical education system, one of the largest in the world, currently has 381 medical colleges with 49,918 MBBS seats registered with Medical Council of India (MCI). While the number of medical colleges and medical seats in the existing colleges are likely to increase with the help of recent proposals from the government of India, the real challenge for any medical college is the availability of the medical trained faculties.
