St. Peters Engineering College prepares the students for industry through a series of opportunities lined up right from the beginning till the completion of their course.
The placement drive in St. Peters Engineering College is to come to an end next month which started in August 2015 and 75 percent of the students have already been placed in companies such as Google, HCL and Mu Sigma. Maintaining a good record of placement in all the five batches passed out so far, St.Peters is known for producing skilled engineers. Training programs are initiated right from the first semester through the training and placement cell which has skilled professionals ranging from soft skills experts to the technical experts. The students are trained on soft skills and personality development by the experts and turned into confident professionals by the time they walk out of the institution.
Technical trainings are provided with the help of several MoUs the institution maintains with reputed training institutes and organizations. St.Peters maintains collaborations with Electronics Corporation of India, Oracle Corporation and IBM for training and other activities such as industry visits, internships and guest lectures. The industry interactions make the students aware of the market trends and learn about the jobs they will do in the future. Many students also get called back for jobs in the company they do their internships with. The internships prepare the students for the industry in a way the normal college days can never do.
Outdoor activities are also a large part of the training that the students undergo in order to prepare them for the industry and the future. "We had to shut down the registration for the annual Airtel Hyderabad Marathon as we did not expect that volume of response from the students," says Muhammad Saleem, an alumnus, reminiscing about his days with St.Peters Engineering College. The annual Airtel Marathon participation was initiated by Saleem as a refreshing change to the usual events and his expectations were far exceeded by the number of students who stepped up. That year 180 students participated in the annual marathon competition making it a ritual and now every year the students from St. Peters Engineering college take part in the event.
The institute has several clubs that cater to the varied interests of the students, from NSS to cultural clubs. The students frequently participate in blood donation camps and clean up drives and also organize plantation drives on a regular basis. By encouraging the students to participate in social activities the institution ensures that they become aware of the social issues that exist around them and help them believe that they can make a change. The faculty of the institution plays a very significant role in motivating the students for extracurricular activities. They act as mentors to the students constantly motivating them and encouraging them to become better, with a faculty to student ratio of 1:14 the students are individually handled by the faculty.
The faculty is also active in research and regularly publishes papers along with students in national and international journals. With AICTE, DRDO and DRDL funding research projects, research in the institute is affluent and currently two projects are ongoing and a large number of projects have been successfully completed through the various research labs provided particularly for research and development purposes.
Aside from everything the institution offers, a thriving entrepreneurship development cell also help the students work on their ideas and materialize them. Each department has one representative faculty assigned as a mentor for entrepreneurial activities and the institute also helps procure funding for the entrepreneurial ventures of the students to encourage their careers. Seminars, workshops and conferences are regularly organized in order to help the students get clearer idea of the startup ecosystem. In a short span of time St.Peters have quickly risen to the top engineering colleges in Hyderabad for their quality education and excellent placement records. In a short span of time St.Peters engineering college has been able to receive accreditation from NBA for their programmes and have quickly made their place among the top engineering colleges in Hyderabad for their quality education and excellent placement records.
