Conferring Corporate Leaders

Our country produces six lakh engineering graduates however, only 18 percent of them go on to become engineers. This is a trend that has plagued the sector ever since the burst of IT bubble. The Training and Placement department of New Horizon College of Engineering (NHCE) sincerely believes in order to face the corporate world and have a successful professional career students need comprehensive training apart from the academics. Established in 2001, the institute follows a three stage methodology of training its students to make them ready for the industry and develop the etiquettes of the corporate world. This training process includes engineering aptitude, soft skills and comprehensive technical training. NHCE is ranked 2nd among the best private technical schools in Karnataka, ranked 6th in South India, ranked 7th in India in placement and academic environment parameters and ranked 18th among the best private technical schools in India. The institute offers professional undergraduate and post graduate courses in Engineering, Technology & Management.

The institute believes that aptitude development is critical at graduation and post graduation levels in today's environment and recruiters evaluate prospective candidates based on their aptitude from their quantitative, reasoning, verbal ability, data interpretation and problem solving skills. The soft skills training aims to shape the personality of each and every student to suit their career aspirations. The technical training modules are prepared through constant interviews of corporate executives and career development counselors. Training programs are conducted for students who wish to pursue higher studies, recruitments and entrepreneurship areas. The MBA program at New Horizon College of Engineering exposes the students to Capstone Business Simulation, NSE stock exchange, compliance management and digital marketing aside from the training in SAP and Data Analytics. The institute has signed MoUs with many industry leaders such as Infosys, Intel, and GE Technology to make the training program successful. Prominent organizations such as Accenture, E&Y, and Microsoft visit NHCE's campus to conduct recruitment activities each year.

"We take pride in having an intake of 1200 students in the undergraduate programs every year, out of which more than 90 percent of the students attend the final placement and grab an offer letter in hand before leaving the institution," claims Dr. Lakshminarayana, Director-Training & Placements, New Horizon College of Engineering.

NHCE devotes a high priority for research activities and has setup key facilities and established a conducive environment for researchers at the institute. The institute has developed research centers in every department and many of them are recognized centers of the Visweshvaraya Technological University, Karnataka. "Each department is headed by faculty members possessing a doctorate degree and actively encourages more and more research activities," mentions Dr. Mohan Manghnani, Chairman, New Horizon Educational Institutes. Some of the current projects undergoing at the institute are 'Performance Analysis of HCNF Algorithm', 'Audio/Video based Navigation tool for Visually Impaired', 'Design and Implementation of labor robots for agriculture and industry', 'Brush seals for gas turbine engines', 'Study of mechanical properties of Aluminum 2024 based hybrid composites' and many more. Image processing, Artificial Neural Network, Robotics, Signal Processing, VLSI and Renewable energy resources, Enhancement of Thermal Conductivities, Viscosity and Heat Transfer Characteristics are few of the topics taken into consideration for future research work. As part of research, many papers and journals of repute by the faculty members and the students of the institutes have been published in the international and national conferences.

The institute conducts various seminars, conferences, workshops and FDP's in the campus and also involves both students and faculty members in national conferences and industrial meets conducted by other institutions to promote their industrial exposure, aside from the regular academic routine. The institute confers scholarships to students in the form of 50 percent fee concession to toppers of every branch of engineering and management course and awards gold medal to the best student among the outgoing ones. Alumni members, once a part of the learning process of the institution, also contribute to the growth of the same through discussions and meetings organized in the campus by every individual department once in a year.

"NHCE inspires a passion for creative learning through a progressive approach to education that values intellectual pursuit, creativity, diversity and community involvement. With this note, the institute is working hard for the progress of the higher education scenario in the country," concludes Dr. Manjunatha, Principal, New Horizon College of Engineering.
