In this globalized world, every country has realized the fact that innovation, robust economic growth and social outcomes can only be achieved by building national intellectual and skills capacity. In India, it is more of a state-level affair, where every state government has their own proposed agendas to foster skilled human resource within the states. While, from public gatherings to various inaugural functions, both national and state level political leaders loud about the importance of increasing the investment in school, higher education and skill development as the key to building that capacity, only few state governments seem to be really interested in giving priority to nurture intellectual capacity for the nation's betterment.

Recently, with an aim to emerge as globally renowned International Hub in health education, the Maharashtra government made plans to work out Memorandum of Understanding (MOU's) with 32 leading universities around the globe. Established by the Maharashtra University of Health Science, the International Education Hub exclusively caters to the health science education and research needs of the students and faculties of affiliated academic institutions, and those of National and International Universities. Similarly, the state government has prepared a blueprint for enhancing the overall quality of higher education in the next few years. Increasing the number of accredited colleges from 1174 to 3000 by 2021, helping 700 more colleges to attain 'A' Grade in NAAC accreditation process, bringing reforms in curriculum, classroom pedagogy are some of the goals set by the State.

By taking such outstanding measures to produce best in class institutions in various fields, Maharashtra has increased the traffic of best talents across the country to its land, especially to its fastest growing cities like Mumbai and Pune. With an objective to arm students across the country with extensive information that will facilitate their quest to identify the best institute in Maharashtra, we have come up with a list of 'Top 20 Promising Institutes in Maharashtra – 2018.' On the cover, we feature Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, a center-of-excellence offering quality education to about 4500 students.
