  • More seats available in self-financed colleges, while fewer offered in government and grant-in-aid institutions overall.

This year, more than 22000 students registered for the diploma admission process which allows diploma holders to enter degree programs in Gujarat.

Official records show that 22138 candidates submitted their applications for the Diploma to Degree Common Entrance Test (DDCET) while 22046 candidates completed their payment process successfully.

The process currently operates to handle 36212 open positions which exist in engineering and pharmacy colleges throughout the state. The entrance examination, which has now become mandatory for admission, is scheduled to be held offline on April 26.

The DDCET introduction creates a complete change from the previous system which permitted diploma holders to enter degree programs based on their academic performance.

The general category produced the highest applicant count while SEBC and EWS and SC and ST groups submitted fewer applications. The study found that male applicants outnumbered female candidates by a substantial margin.

The distribution of seats shows that self-financed institutions provide more than 34000 seats while government and grant-in-aid colleges offer a smaller number of seats.

The admission process accepts applicants from all states because diploma holders from other states can vie for a restricted count of seats in governmental institutions.
