IIT Madras partners with industry and institutions for SWAYAM Plus courses
The MoUs with different institutions during the IInvenTiv 2025 conference at IIT Madras from February 28-March 1 set an expectation of 2500 learners enrolling in the very first phase of the collaboration within the next few weeks. The next phase aims at further expansion targeting above 10,000 students at various institutes to take up the courses for credit.
The MoUs were signed during the event IInvenTiv 2025 at IIT Madras from February 28 to March 1, in the presence of dignitaries such as Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education and Development of the North-Eastern Region, and Prof V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras.
Integrating SWAYAM Plus courses is the responsibility of partner institutions such as Sathyabama University, Thiagarajar College of Arts, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Sri Venkateswara University, and Vinayaka Mission's Law School into their respective curricula.
"The MoUs signed with the industry will enable them to offer employability-focused courses on the Plus portal. The goal is to enhance learners’ job prospects by equipping them with industry-relevant skills. The Industry MoUs were signed with Veranda Learning Solutions and NSE Academy," mentioned in the press release.
These courses will be delivered with the help of the portal, while assessments and certification will also be conducted through the portal. Specialized courses contributing to career-relevant skills will be there, which will be added to the portal only after approval from the Programme Implementation Committee at IIT Madras.
In this regard, efforts shall be made for scaling up student enrolment, broadening the adoption across higher education institutions, and making SWAYAM Plus the most preferred platform for the industry-relevant courses with academic credits.
