IIM Sambalpur Partners with Breakout Learning For AI-Powered Case Studies
IIM Sambalpur has partnered with Breakout Learning Inc., a company from the US, to incorporate AI-powered digital case study solutions into its MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. programs. The collaboration arises alongside India's increasing emphasis on AI in education, following the government's declaration of a ₹500 crore investment in AI Centers of Excellence.
This partnership will permit IIM Sambalpur to implement AI-driven case-based learning, giving students and faculty access to high-quality case studies from institutions such as Harvard and Ivey. The initiative seeks to modernize management education by substituting conventional teaching practices with AI-powered interactive learning opportunities.
As part of the agreement, both faculty and students will take part in creating management case studies enhanced by AI, which will be available on Breakout Learning’s platform. Intellectual property rights in these instances will be co-owned, with faculty obtaining reduced access for educational and research objectives.
IIM Sambalpur Director, Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, highlighted the need for such initiatives, stating that Indian business schools struggle with global rankings due to limited faculty research output. “With AI integration, faculty will have more time for research and case writing, which can improve academic contributions and help Indian institutions gain global recognition,” he said.
Breakout Learning will offer technical assistance for incorporating its platform into the curriculum of IIM Sambalpur. Financial arrangements, such as access charges and case development royalties, will be organized independently to guarantee lasting sustainability. This initiative represents progress in AI-focused business education in India, coinciding with the nation’s wider aims to integrate advanced technologies into education.
