IIT Jammu Launches BSc in Behavioral Sciences, Analytics Program

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has launched a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences and Predictive Analytics (BSBSPA), an interdisciplinary undergraduate program designed by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. Candidates qualified for JEE Advanced 2025 can submit their applications via the online application portal for this program.

The program integrates essential ideas from psychology, cognitive science, behavioral economics, and sociology with methods from data science, statistics, and predictive modeling. It seeks to assist students in comprehending human behavior at both the personal level and within larger social structures, employing data-driven methods to enhance decision-making.

The four-year Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences and Predictive Analytics (BSBSPA) degree program offered by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Jammu represents a forward-thinking approach to education and establishes a new outcome-oriented, integrated strategy that contributes to the first significant outcome of NEP 2020.

The program provides an integrated study of the human behaviour and incorporates methods of sophisticated analyses. This is a unique interdisciplinary education intended for the workforce of today where there is an abundance of business data but also a constantly changing work environment.

For the first two-years, students receive the basic training that allows for a strong foundation in Behavior Science, Neuroscience, Social Science, Humanities, Economics, Maths, Computer Programming with data analysis, Data Science, Machine Learning, Psychology, Cognitive Science.

During the third and fourth years, the emphasis changes to advanced and specialized courses in fields like Data Science, Machine Learning, Behavioral Sciences, Business Strategy, Psychology, Economics, and Humanities, in addition to practical projects tied to policy-making and real-world implementations.

This program combines behavioral science with predictive analytics to help students understand and predict human behavior in real-life situations. Each of the social issues tackled by the program includes mental health, inequalities in society, purchasing behaviour, and public policies.

With a strong emphasis on theory and practical application, students will have the tools and skills in research methods and predictive modelling to bring forth meaningful, data-informed solutions and contributions to both academia and industry.
